Whooeee. It was a long day yesterday... But I did manage to get some snow pics posted. Take a look if you're so inclined. ...and if you've already had way too much snow this year, there are family photos.

That's all for this morning...

Tuesday

Family quotes for your morning coffee up your nose experience:

From the Nevermore department: Checking Daniel's homework last night, I came across this answer to the True/False question, "A ravine is a narrow passage between rocks."

False; a ravine is a bird...
<Sniff>; that's my boy; a future Theatre of the Absurd Managing Director...

...and from the Life is Uncertain; Eat Desert First department, we have Shelley's response to the lady with, "Oh, you have MS; how long before you're in a wheelchair?"

About the same amount of time before you're hit by the bus!
Ahem...

Wednesday

I had some escapees from the Enchanted Forest drop by the office Monday afternoon... Actually, they were kidnapees under an evil spell. Fortunately, we didn't bite the apple...

I came into work Tuesday morning to find an email from someone named "Ha-Ha-Ha" with subject line of ''Snow White and the Seven...''.

"Ah heck", as my internal alarms went off and I <Shift> <Deleted> that sucker into Never Never Land...

So I wandered into Erik's office and advised him that one had made it through the corporate email sieve he has on the Comm server. ...and went back and thought for a moment about whether I'd pushed the panic button too early. Hmmm, no; I distinctly recall a mention of this in something from someone... Yeah, I think one of my HTML newsletters had something about the guy's wife getting hit.

So Erik emails me the info from his vendor's AV list (we use different AV packages; not that I don't trust him...) and it should have caught it inbound. ...and he had no alarms. Hmmm... I checked with Janeen when she came in. Sure enough, she had received the same email. ...and hadn't opened it! Yep, she's got it together in the paranoia department. ...just like her boss.

Okay... Erik says no one else received this little gem. That puts it external (internal and we'd be flooded). The list of people with both Janeen's and my email address is remarkably small. Off goes a nice BCC note to all four of them to say they might have a problem.

Interesting; as of 2300 Tuesday evening, I've heard from only one. ...and two of them are on the same network. Here's hoping they didn't send it to the other person on the short list. Sheesh...

Just another day in the Magic Kingdom...

Thursday

Whoooeeee! I missed Hump Day... How the heck did that happen?
No loss in my book...

Short shrift again as I am spending some of my evening time this week once again reading up on some site management tools. The church thing could evolve into something that could use a master program... Adobe GoLive is the program in question. I played with NetObjects Fusion and Symantec's entry a year or so ago; this time round it's GoLive's turn.

My problem is a non-problem in some ways: I manage most of my site stuff with NoteTab and one or two other programs. If I need something fancy, I hie on over to CoffeeCup's site and download one of their products.

The difference this time around is that the client wants animations and lots of other goodies. ...stuff I normally wouldn't even consider for a site. So I may be taking the step up from amateur/helper type into the semi-pro leagues. ...and I want to know if one of these packages would help me. Ah, well, it usually means I get to sleep earlier when I read in bed<g>.

I'll catch you later...

Friday

Coupla' comments:

Bo's book is available over on fatbrain for those looking for an alternative source to the minor satan... I did try Addison-Wesley; but while they have an excellent listing about the book, I didn't see an easy way to buy it from them.

...and I say we can bypass Dunkirk Dave (shameless promotion of a friend) and that other groundhog; I suggest we watch to see if Bob Thompson orders in things that need clear weather to be used... If he does, it's six more weeks of winter. Cold, snowy, rainy, blustery winter...

Hmmm... If you like SuSe like Dave likes SuSe... Well, you'd better learn German unless you are really competent with Linux distros. Another view. Thanks Doc.

TGIF? Oh yeah...

Saturday

Good morning sports fans. I hope your enjoying the season. ...whatever it is.

Here's one I ran across yesterday:

Making Apache Case Insensitive Using Samba

I'm not at this stage with my Samba on my system as I still serve up with Apache from an NT box. ...but it looks like something to file away here for future reference.

Today's a teaching day: the Central Nervous System. Time for Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll (although for my generation that's a bit redundant<g>).

Perhaps some more later...

Sunday

Ha! Easy answer Tom: Write a book on XML.

Two partridges with one cartridge...
