Hmmm.... I was reading! I guess if I mention the forecasters saying we're going to have a twenty-five degree rise in temperatures by Wednesday I can dodge the 'no post' bit?

...didn't think so <g>.

Tuesday

This week is the start of "State Testing" for both the guys. We printed out some of the 'released' questions and had a go at that, but now it's down to trying to minimize the homework distractions and trying to get them to bed early and trying to keep the junk food intake to a minimum. Yes, you parents can stop laughing any old time <g>...

...and I did manage to get some time over the weekend to rebuild one machine and part together another; if things mellow in the evenings around here I may have a report or two on Fedora Core 5 (so far, so good on the install) and perhaps even one on Xp...

Of course "mellow" and "this place" aren't exactly a match...

Wednesday

Side issues in life: the rains haven't been around for a day or two; in fact, the direct sunlight has been darned hot and only mediated by very cool air from the winds. ...but we may have more rain by this weekend? It didn't matter to us this evening...

Yep, it was nice enough to be able to both grill and eat outside... Shelley had picked up some Emiril's Smoked Chicken and Apple Sausage earlier today, and I had some Al Fresco Mango Chipotle Chicken Sausage to try out; the time seemed right for a taste test fest <g>. ...and we figured maybe some healthy food?

Well, ol' Emiril lost this time, by two to one (we had one abstention: Brad declared the Al Fresco as "too exotic" and Emiril's as "too bland"). ...and while the Mango Chipotle stuff was 'just right' for Papa Bear and Teen Bear, Mama Bear felt it was a bit too much for her. I'm thinking I'm off to the store to pick up some of the other Al Fresco flavors to try though: this stuff grilled up like 'real sausage' and pretty much tasted like 'real food' too!

Not that there's anything wrong with chicken, dear...

Thursday

Oh my, what a fun evening (after the homework quieted down): I managed to both read an online novel and work on putting Fedora Core 5 in place and updated to my preferences. More on that later, but suffice to say this post is brought to you courtesy of Fedora Core 5, gFTP, Bluefish, Firefox and a few yawns...

Yep, it's a bit late...

Friday

Nothing much to report here; the work week is over; I need to be up to take a teen to a field trip drop off; there's a work list; and there's some sleep backlogged...

Downtime is indicated...

Saturday

Downtime...
Sunday

"Sunday dawned bright and clear..." Okay, that wouldn't be here in ol' Sunny California <g>! Yep, once again: it started raining around midnight and continued off and on until late afternoon. The sun did come out to tease, but only for a brief time before it set. Ah, well, maybe next week?

The tech and writing sides have been way too busy this weekend, busy enough I haven't even had time to slide the boot CD into the Xp box. ...but this Fedora Core 5 box is running just all sorts of sweet! This is the old "Tux" boxen from a year or so back; it's the Shuttle running an underclocked Athlon 1500+ with a gig of memory. So far it's been humming right along. I've been adding in programs and slowing bringing it back into play as my primary box. Email this next week should complete the package. ...and then I get to mount and strip the older HDDs that caused all the confusion over the Winter.

Later, folks!
