Mocha, latte, frappawhatzit...

<sigh>... Just when you think you have your life in order...

A Starbuck's Virgin! That's how I heard myself described today. ...as I joined with some co-workers and some web friends in worshiping at the altar of the all-powerful Coffee Bean. Basically, I was urged to try an iced coffee drink 'just to see if you'd like it'. Yeah, yeah...

So I did. Not even knowing what I was ordering, I threw some of the coffee buzz words I'd learned toward the counter gal at the downtown Starbuck's as I headed out on a most-unscheduled run this morning. ...and I ended up with this coffee flavored shake-like thing that I started to suck down as I headed up the freeway toward my Target target. ...and finished up on the way back to the office.

...and ya' know? It wasn't bad at all. ...and the top of my head didn't fly off as it had the one or two times I'd tried coffee thirty or so years ago. ...and the day progressed just fine. I mean I wasn't all that wired. Not much. Really...

...and I didn't think about my normal addiction until I checked the 'fridge just before I headed home. ...to find a forlorn little can of Pepsi Twist sitting inside waiting for me to finish the last half of my morning routine.

Oh, my... What have I done???

The Thursday Threesome...

Onesome. Parsley - does anyone really cook with this stuff?!? What is the weirdest/funniest thing you ever did with the garnish on your plate at a restaurant? Hmmm... Probably when I tried to convince Bradley that he could really eat the garnish on his plate. Then Shelley came back from the bathroom...

Twosome. Sage - to whom do you turn for advice? This isn't limited to just one person but could be several different people for different situations. Double hmmm... The Bible. Some very select friends depending on the topic (nameless to protect the innocent, but you know who you are).

Threesome. Rosemary and Thyme - what does the name "Rosemary" mean to you and to what time frame does the memory belong? Rosemary is the name of that devil-spawned plant that looked so nice in the front curb strip at my old house when I first moved in. ...and gradually choked the life from the roses planted with it. It took two days to remove it all and turn the site back into a garden. Beware the uncontrolled herb!

How about you?

> Our strange little hobby...

As I was wondering around a very empty, and frankly, uncared for, area of one of the local cemeteries, I spotted this off to one side...

Very out of place here...

...and as I came up to it, my puzzlement increased.

What am I seeing?

Ah, an angel!

Links to larger image...

But what is she doing?

Oh, the brass plate explains it:

Watching over the family...

...and you wonder why I wander?

Rolling with the punches...

Somehow, Mr. Grounded Because He Slipped The Blue Hair Spike Gel Off To School (in violation of both household and school policies. ...the color, not the spikiness) has managed to turn the after school time tomorrow into a pool party with both boys and girls!

I heard this from a slightly dazed Optimist who wasn't quite sure how she got roped into this one...

It's okay though; I told her not to worry too much: I overheard him on the phone with one of the young ladies, "Oh, yeah, and be sure to bring your squirt gun!"

As long as he's still missing the point...

Syntax error...

Overheard on the local news tonight:

"Yosemite climber lucky to be alive after rescue!"

(...and no, it wasn't a Mt. Hood style disaster, just a straight grab off the mountain.)

Granted, it's a Murdock station; but even there, someone should proof these things...

Random thoughts from a Sunday morning...

Slow cooking sausage (even low fat <g>) with some honey dijon mustard as part of the spice mix can sure make a kitchen smell good...

Hey, Dad, can you get this back together?

Ummm, isn't that Mom's?

Yeah, that's why I want it back together...
