If I were an artist...

...I might do something like this.

Hmm... Maybe I just did, -eh?

The Thursday Threesome...

Onesome: The-- What is the "bestest" Christmas decoration in your mind? You know, the one that says, "This is Christmas!" The town where we live puts up banners on the street lamps as the holiday season approaches, but they wait until after Thanksgiving to mount lighted Christmas 'packages' on the lamps in the downtown area. That always starts things off for me...

Twosome: Christmas-- What style of Christmas ornaments do you like to see? Are you a glass ball person? ...or how about that bow thing? Maybe Christmas Muppet characters everywhere? Hmm? I like the mix Shelley and the boys put up each year. We have everything from family heirlooms to kidlet manfactured styles hanging there. Right now I'm liking the handmade ones the boys and I did a few years ago.

Just cording around a styrofoam ball. ...but what an afternoon with the glue gun!

Threesome: Song--...and your favorite Christmas Song? Is there one that just sets the season for you when you hear it? I mean, even when you're in a "Ho-Ho-Humbug" mood? Plus One has a song out called "This is Christmas" ("Can you feel the spirit in the air; Giving hope to people everywhere...") that pretty well is working for me this year. ...and with the usual pre-Christmas overload in full swing, I may just have to pick up the album <g>!

How about you? What lights up your Christmas season? Drop by and let us know, over on The Back Porch...

Come on over and chat!

Christmas School Snack Insanity...

Some of you know Shelley from years past when she used to post (hint, hint!!!), so this won't surprise you too much:

A little bit of everything...

Yes, to the right of the Christmas Hershey's Kisses you have Christmas tortilla chips. ...and no, your eyes are not deceiving you; to the left, those are Christmas Fishy Crackers.

...and yes, if I turned the bags around, you would be able to see the holiday designs on them.

Did I mention the Christmas pasta? ...with angels and stars?

Yeah, like that...

Grave circumstances...

A pushback for bobbi, in reference to her Texas shoot...

But not from the German section here...

Morning and afternoon...

As the fog tries to force itself upon the valley...

On the way to work...

...and cannot quite hold the day.

Almost the last of the fall color...

A retrospective...

Some word pictures from today...

The warmth of the bed and semi-choherent thoughts trying to rationalize not getting up.
The stumble of shower/dress/drive.
...and the hellos at church.
The first taste of the peppermint latte...
The music.
The light rain on the way home, building and then slackening.

The table lamp today...

The rain on the way out, suddenly pouring and greying out the the view through the windshield.
The silence in the car as it's just the two of us on the way to lunch.
The rain slackening once again and the sunlight breaking through the clouds, as we watch through the windows of an amazingly uncrowded Friday's.
The tree skirt of golden ginko leaves fallen during the rain.
The crowds at the mall...

Moonrise this evening...

The peace of a nap.
...and awakening to eighteen pounds of cat on my belly.
The sharp cold of the night air, as the storm has passed...
...and the moon now illuminating the fields and the streets.
The stillness of the air, broken only by the sounds of the leaves in the trees...
...and the blowers inflating the Christmas yard decorations.

The warmth of the house.
Thoughts of reading until sleep overtakes me and completes this turn of the wheel...
