Photo notes: last week's posts over on the photoblog were processed for the most part using the Camera Raw converter in Photoshop Elements 3. I've stayed away from that method for most of the year, but I figured it was time to start learning the next level.

That said, I still have a lot to learn; but the ability to take photos more toward the camera's limits and still be able to have them come out well seems to be worth the trade off in flash card and HDD space. I also have to plan the shots a bit more, but that's something I should be doing anyway <g>...

More on this as the week progresses...

Tuesday

Photo notes, part II: The piece up over on Views today was shot in RAW+jpeg late Sunday morning and exclusively with the teleconverter in place (which was the only way that owl was going to be visible!). The sun was almost directly overhead and the air quality was poor. That normally would make for a bit of a challenge, but after using the RAW converter last week I felt it was worth a try.

...and I think overall the shots came out okay. I'm critical of the road shot, but I'll live with it to be able to drive the piece. ...and maybe later this week I'll even put a shot or two up of the reason I went by the place before that pickup with all the junk in the back headed up the next hill and rousted the falcons and the owl from their rest.

Wednesday

Photo notes: There's nothing particularly special about the rose duo up today; I was just playing with a composition idea when I was at the neighbor's the other week. I think if I can find the same type of pairing again I may make a rollover type post with selective focus...

...and the school year is fast approaching: shoes are being procured, registration packets are being picked up, sports physicals are needed. Shelley heads back in for classroom prep on Monday; the boys both start the following week.

Ah, Summer, we hardly knew ye...

Thursday

Taking a bit of a break inside today. ...and working on a replacement machine.

Sunday

Well, it's not like I haven't been busy this weekend, but I haven't been on line here all that much. Life's been mostly cleaning and sorting and getting things a little closer for the start of school.

Your regular programming will return shortly...
