Daily doings in the land of The Time Sink
Symbiosis...

As I was following Ciara's blog yesterday, I kept going back to the Zen Meditation... It struck a 'dis-chord' with me.

...and I finally figured it out: I don't see how water can be lonely.

No; I really don't. I'll acknowledge the extreme of one molecule perhaps looking for a friend; but for even a trickle, there's a level of companionship.

Standing water is hanging around with the rest of the gang waiting for evaporation or percolation to diminish its ranks. ...or for rainfall or a stream to bring more company.

...and moving water is always off on a journey to somewhere with lots of friends along for the ride.

So, I just cannot see how water could be lonely...

...unless it misses the monk.

I think I'd better leave this stuff to Hal and Cecil and David...

...and enjoy the ride.

Ah well...

Catch you Friday...

Almost as cool...

A little jalapeño dip and some chips and it's time to get started on the night!

Cool...

Daniel's home safe.

I'll be back in a bit; there are people here who need to be tucked in...

Late, late, late...

...and a very early day in a bit.

He didn't win, but we had a great time at dinner.

More in the morning on one site or the other...

It has the makings of a long day...

You really need to be smarter than the shampoo bottle in the morning...

On the positive side, I was able to score the toothbrush encounter as a tie.

Oh, and no bull snakes...

For as long as I shall live
I will testify to love
I'll be a witness in the silences
When words are not enough

I have songs running though my mind most of the time. A lot of that is due to the music I have going during the commute, while I'm at work, when I'm working around the house, or even at the computers late at night when everyone else is asleep...

The rest of the time, it's that built in non-random music generator I have installed (it came as part of an equipment revamp a few years back). Last night one of my favorite Rich Mullins songs was playing as I went to bed. ...and again this morning when I got up. Usually, it's pretty easy to work out the messages...

But things took bit of a swing today on the way to work. I was thinking about the Mullins song and my thoughts turned toward Kaycee and how she was doing in Florida when one of my personal anthems came on the radio. ...and a musical link to our warrior princess changed to visited.

Of course... That's how she's lived her life. ...and how I try to live mine. ...and several other people who drop in from time to time try to live theirs.

Remarkably simply lyrics...

From the mountains to the valleys
From the rivers to the seas
Every hand that reaches out
Every hand that reaches out to offer peace

That have a simple message...

All the colors of the rainbow
All the voices of the wind
Ev'ry dream that reaches out
That reaches out to find where love begins

Hmmm...

I guess I'll have tell you about the Mullin's song some other time <g>.

A tech services classic...

Clark just came in and showed me this one:

The pager keeps going off every time it gets a page!

Yeah, we know what he meant.

Still...

Bonus!

I just found three Oreo cookies Shelley sent to work with me last week. I'd stashed them in the refer and forgot about them.

They're low fat; but coming inside from the heat, we're talking pure heaven...

Garret is my kind of whacked...

"...there's a bull snake! what do i do?" i look at myself in the rear view mirror, and calmly answer: "lie down. easier for him to swallow you that way."

5/7/2001 11:59:13 PM

Cooler tonight, hotter tomorrow...

It finally dropped to 91F around 1915 and I was able to get in a normal circuit, in spite of having not bladed for over a week. With my endorphin levels up, I think I'll just pack it in.

The Tuesday temps may hit 100F here in the valley...

5/7/2001 11:28:47 PM

I don't think we're in Kansas anymore...

I thought it was hot while I was out shopping today... I just checked the temperature (north side of the house, in the shade); it's reading 97.7F out there...

...and it's a blading night.

I thought I was finished...

Then Cecil came through again...

Dig a hole for your rock, it's only right.

5/7/2001 12:02:49 AM

Yeah, I've been in full overload all weekend...

I think I'll start over in the morning.

5/6/2001 11:30:29 PM

Too late to think clearly...

Okay, Ciara: there's this guy at work with one green eye and one blue eye. Maybe if I ask real nice...

...and staying with that theme, Matt Beland over on Daynotes had Doorstop (one of his and Keri's cats) act as a guest columnist this week.

Maybe I was up too much this weekend...

A quick comment before I head off to bed...

I've been able to follow things from time to time today; I just haven't been able to respond. I lost one post at the college when the servers locked. Several hour's work went with it.

...and I came home pretty much done in. Not a good thing. ...especially as I needed to recreate the work I had laid out at the college so the staffers could get on it Monday morning. Details later...

...and I was just going to read up on things and lurk until one post breathed some life back into my soul.

So you get a post with a semantic content of zero...

...but a lot of warm thoughts for the community.

Good night...

...and thanks.
