Another island of peace...
...an island in the sky.

It's going to be a busy day...
But there's a way to work through that...
"See if you can give yourself gifts that may be true blessings, such as self-acceptance, or some time each day with no purpose. "
Yeah, I teach the same thing in my stress management class...
I just forget it sometimes. Thanks, Ciara

Maybe it's a sleep thing...
I'd set up the subroutine called "Go downstairs and deal with what's in your hand" and had just called it when Joe walked in and asked if I'd been given the spare van key by mistake.
"...like the one in your hand?"
"Oh, sure. Here; I didn't know how it ended up on my desk..."
Of course, I hadn't killed the subroutine and ended up downstairs wondering what I came downstairs for...
...and had to go back upstairs to figure it all out.
Sheesh...

Synchronicity or coincidence?
How about Synergy?

Bloom where you're planted...
The flower from yesterday's post is an African Lily, commonly known in these parts as a "Moraea". Gardeners around here use them next to large rocks in accent gardens. They are very hardy and tolerate children hacking at the flower pods or cutting off the leaves to make swords.
They like the sun, but will bloom in shaded areas. Give them some water and they'll bloom even more. You can dig them up and almost kill them when you divide them; but give them a little time to acclimate and they start growing again.
Did I mention they like sunshine?

Social engineering...
I usually leave the geek stuff over on the other site, but this morning's mail from one of the Daynotes Gang contained a virus warning with a twist...
Some kind soul is sending out what purports to be a warning from Symantec. ...and it has a payload.
Info here and here.
An easy game plan: don't open attachments; disable scripting on your Windows box; don't open attachments; look before you leap (Anna Kournikova is not that great (well, except perhaps to Al); don't open attachments; use a virus scanner on your machine; don't open attachments; use Linux (the bad guys just haven't focused much energy there yet); don't open attachments...
Oh yeah: don't open attachments.
Have a great big fluffy-pillow day out there...

Ya' know...
Reading Amber and John late at night makes for some real paranoia...

Monday, Monday...
Okay, it's now 1400 and I can start doing some purchasing! ...like, actualize my core functionality within the organizational framework. ...or some such drivel.
Okay, that's a fair question (Where did that come from?):
It seems when an outside vendor came in Friday to pull an update to the Accounts Payable software, the upgrade hosed the ODBC link between the Purchasing Program (it has to be in caps according to the head geek) and the database. Swell...
So after trouble shooting by an IT minion, me (hardware geek, remember? No software talent) and finally the head geek, the command decision was made to install the HR package on my machine ('cause it does some ODBC stuff...)...
...can't argue: I'm rockin'!
Still...

Good night...
I wasn't planning to post here at all today, what with Mother's Day and all.
...but Shelley, the city girl, just saw her first opossum tonight. Up close and personal. Like, right outside the bedroom door, eating from the outside cat's food dish...
I'm sure we'll hear more about it on her site tomorrow...
For now, I'm just hoping to be able to get some sleep tonight; it's not easy for a city girl to sleep knowing there are critters running around outside the abode.
First bull snakes...

Server processes are shutting down one by one...
For a day that started slow, it turned out rather well.
Now it's time for a cold one and some gazing at that Japanese garden that exists mostly in my mind's eye...
There is a rock or two...
...and a lantern.

The weather report...
It was bumping up against 101F when I picked the kids up from school yesterday, the last day of the week that wouldn't end.
Today it looks like we may hit 82...
...and a "Wow" to Patti. ...and another to Al. I remember Sandy. Thanks for the update.

Random thoughts...
When you go out shopping for that Mother's Day card later this evening (or tomorrow morning), wander by the magazine rack and check out the advertisement on the back cover of People for May 21. The title: "What is it about the green ones..."
No, I'm not going to scan it for you; it'll do you good to get out. Anyway, you did last year's card on the computer...
Whoohoo! A flight of eleven B-25s just flew over the house! The Doolittle Raiders are in town again this weekend. I hadn't expected to see any part of the show.
No, the camera was inside...
