BOFH for the day...
If you emailed me at the office anytime after 1000 Thursday, I'll respond when your email makes it to my machine. It seems that Thursday's adjustment to the comm server and subsequent reboot didn't work out quite as planned out by IT. ...and the head geek left Dodge a few hours later. ...and the programmer who backs him up left this morning. Leaving... Yep: somehow the Purchasing Dude is tweaking servers.
'Sokay; Donna came in this morning before she left and we tag-teamed the thing. We finally settled on the "Whack-a-Mole" system: every time a service dies (which is what the problem is: services dying constantly), I manually restart it. Once! Then I set the recovery attributes to automatically restart after one minute the next time it dies. ...and every time after that.
Man, I do not want to see that event log on Monday. I wonder if I should set a limit on it before I leave? ...or maybe just see how much HDD space he has left.
Hmmm...

Short takes from the trip...
Bradley to the world in general, as he's stuck waiting in the motel room:
"I just want to pick up the phone and call someone!"
Shelley: "My son!"
Late in the day:
Bradley: "That was cool, Dad; I want to ride again!"
Me: "I don't think so."
"Why?"
"You need someone to ride with you..."
"That's okay. You can go again!"
"Ummm... That won't be happening..."

Birthday girl...
It's my favorite Optimist's birthday Tuesday! If you read her site (or wonder who puts up with me on a day to day basis), why not wish her a happy one.
We're hoping for a great one for her: no cooking, lots of entertainment, maybe some shopping tonight...
She seems to be looking forward to it...
(I'll find the road trip story later.)

Downtime...
Yep, that's what I had Saturday. ...especially in the late afternoon and on into the evening. The steaks turned out fine and I think I have a handle on cooking the four tri-tips we'll need for that dinner in a few weeks.
Thanks for bearing with me here on the blog... Daily stuff is still going up on my Daynotes site; but that relaxed attitude I need to maintain the blog as upbeat as I'd like has been missing. ...except on vacation, when I was too relaxed to post<g>.
The good news is that I have been able to maintain at least an even keel. ...and that really is a good thing.
So is sleep.
C-ya in a while...
