On the road again...
...and the tunes this time started off with a concept album, The Music of West Side Story. Nope, not your normal sound track; this gem has Phil Collins singing "Somewhere" and Brian Setzer handling the "Jet's Song". Yeah, talk about casting to type... That took us out of the metro and into the ag country. ...and provided the soundtrack as a cropdusting biplane just cleared the power lines on either side of the road as it passed above us.Let's see, they also have Little Richard doing "I'm So Pretty" and Kenny Loggins and Wynonna covering "Tonight". Yep, an interesting listen...
..and for the "Keep awake" portion of the trip, as the sun dropped below the horizon but never quite allowed the deep blue to leave the sky for the longest time? That was Essential Southern Rock from the House of Blues. ...stuff I hadn't heard for a while and the boys had never heard: "Dad, is this 'country'?"
...and while Shelley gritted her teeth and hung on to her sanity by a thread ("Who CARES?!?!" echoing loud enough to make it outside her head <g>!), Daniel and I worked into a spirited discussion of which bass instrument was driving the beat for "Union Man" by The Cate Brothers...
...and now that it's calm and peaceful? What's in the headphones with the sound of the surf in the background? That Clapton album I mentioned earlier. ...and "Can't Find My Home" from the Long Beach Arena way back in 1974.
Before...
Whew, "Presence of the Lord" done as a blues tune...
Off to check on things...

Onesome- Sound loves: What’s your favourite song? Is there a history behind it or do you just like it because it’s great? Oh, my. Just one song? I can't even... Okay, maybe "Memories" from "Cats". ...or how about? Nope, too many...
Twosome- To revel: What’s your idea of the perfect party tunes? Some jazz to keep things jumpin’? Rock to keep everyone dancing? Or a mix of everything to make everyone happy? *If* I were to partaay, it would be rock. ...or maybe a ton of Buffett to keep things mellow. ...or maybe some, well, see? Here we go again <g>!
Threesome- In a summer night: It’s a mellow summer night, you’re on your own and you’re ready to load the CD player. What’s on your playlist? Remember, there's no one around to say "Ewww, gross!" *grin* Well, right now, the stack next to me includes Eric Clapton's "Crossroads 2", Buffett, Brightman, Cheryl Crow, Dire Staits and a couple I'll mention in my next post...
How about you? What song are you singing? Let us know, over on The Back Porch...

Guessing games...
I awaken from my passenger seat nap to realize we are traveling very slowly behind quite a line of cars...
"Hey Dan, what's worse than being behind a slow camper?"
"I dunno..", thinking I'm a rather slow camper myself just then.
"A camper being towed!"
...back to my nap.

Overheard...
...at the Sea Shanty today (seaside town burger joint; great food and desserts, but the basic menu you'd expect: so not upscale):
From the next table over, the waitress having asked about dressing for his salad...
"Oh, a nice honey-mustard, or perhaps just a raspberry vinaigrette."
Sir, we have French, Thousand, Blue Cheese, and oil and vinegar...
A little later, Brad, responding to Shelley's question, "Mom, this pickle isn't sour; it just tastes bad!
Live and learn...
