Before the Canadians come looking for me...
(...and a few Pennsylvanians <g>!), that leaf from this morning isn't a maple leaf! Nope, that one is from what we call a Liquid Ambar, or American Sweetgum tree.
Rather than the 'helicopter blade' seed pods of the maple, these produce a spiky ball:
...and maybe that picture was deceptive on the size of the leaf: these measure nearly ten inches from left to right lobe tips:

Onesome: Serendipity:-- Do you believe in destiny? Maybe not exactly what we're looking for, but no, I don't believe in predestination. Then again, I do believe in a master Plan that I cannot necessarily see, but have encountered time and time again and have learned to listen to...
Twosome: Making fortunate discoveries-- What is your greatest "find"? Is it an antique you discovered tucked away at a garage sale? Or maybe something as simple as the great sale on khakis or lawn mowers at your favorite store? Listen, if I don't say Shelley I'd be in big trouble. ...and I'd also be lying <g>!
Threesome: by accident-- Have you ever discovered a place entirely by accident and it's become a favourite place to go now? A hidden grove in the city park, a wonderful little coffee shop or restaurant, a treasure trove of a shop? I'd have to say my current route in the neighborhood just behind us. I didn't originally think there was much there, but Brad and I easily picked up another batch of shots just walking those few blocks in the dusk this evening.... That area is also the setting for several of the "walks".
How about you? Has serendipity struck lately? Drop by and let us know, over on The Back Porch...

Netscape help...
Hey, if you're a Netscape aficionado and ended up with a mess when you tried to download that last walk, give this version a try. Long time reader and correspondent JHR gave me some recursive feedback and we've managed to come up with a version that should work for you.
I stripped out the javascript that preloads the backgrounds, the javascript that allows IE6 users to have the background in the text boxes scroll, and a span class to allows the drop cap to fail safe to text. Mozilla and Firefox users shouldn't notice a difference; IE users lose the scroll in the text box background.
If that's all in a really different language, don't worry about it; just enjoy whichever version works for you...

...and a day to play catchup with a bit of linkage. First off, your reminder to head by Lori's place and check out the artwork for sale at The Coffee Works:

...like music from my favorite indie artist, Tony Hightower! Not content to wait until he has another album available, every Monday he's putting up a new track for your listening pleasure. If you're into transplanted Canadian musicians in New York, give him a whirl:
...and speaking of Canadians, one of my favorite Ladies of the North, Catherine Jamieson, has her site listed on "Forbes Best Photo Blogs"! Please take a moment and drop by the Forbes site and add your vote for her place. Thanks!
Okay, I'll go find a photo someplace...

Gross...
Do you remember those cheesy "Haunted Houses" way back when? The type where they had you stick your hand in the bowl in the darkened room and you just hoped to heck those were really grapes or something cool? I mean, you knew they weren't eyeballs like the hawkers wanted you to believe, but you really hoped it wasn't something totally gross that you really had no clue about...
