Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday SundayI was dinkin' around with the iMac last night and ran up against what may be a showstopper: it doesn't seem to think it has Remote Access installed. Yeah... I can get to the TCP/IP, modem and Dialup Assist control panels well enough, but when I attempt to hit the Remote Access panel, I get a dialog saying the OpenTPT Remote Access extension isn't there. ...only it is! ...and even when I found a newer version in the "old system" folder and moved it over, it still said it wasn't there. After much head scratching, I downloaded a client from ARA that included OpenTPT Remote Access in its install, but it gave me a "no Open Transport extension found" message. ...and yep, that one is sitting in the extensions folder too. I know I'm missing something here, but I'm just not sure what... Yeah! Tonight Shelley officially turned over her soccer registrar's materials to the new gal. That ends her tour of duty in the Gamma Quadrant. No more outside in the 100 degree heat registering, no more late meetings and no more "I can't find xxx; can you help" at 0730 on Saturdays when we're trying to get to our own games... Oh, sure, she'll still help out the new gal; heck, I'll likely be involved in the software installation on that machine, but the phone calls and the demands will be gone. It's been a long and sometimes taxing two years and I make no bones about my being happy it's over for her... The first year was cool, thanks mostly to one board member; the second seemed like it would never end. ...but it has. Whew, yesterday was overscheduled to the max here! I ended up taking Daniel to school on my way to work so I could leave in time to pick him up from the gym to get him home to do homework and make dinner so we could get to Brad's game in time... In the meantime, Shelley hauled Brad and a couple other kids to school in time to go pick up Daniel to make a doctor appointment and back to school and shop for a new pair of game pants for Brad's game and pick up Daniel and get him to the gym and back to get Brad to feed him and get him to his game... ...and that's while I'm pulling off the early morning Smart and Final run so I could come back and handle the Costco returns run (21 pounds of M&Ms; don't ask <g>), and heck, I might as well get the stuff I need while I'm out and then deal with the guy who showed up unannounced and needed DMV stuff done before the unload and uh-oh I have to leave to go get Daniel. ...and then the game was over quickly enough that Shelley had time to go deal with turning over the soccer stuff if I could get home and find the packet from two years back with the Gold Disks while she dropped Brad's friend off after the game. ...and Daniel could deal with the cat boxes and watering the new plants out front while Brad got his shower and second dinner. Ya' know, every so often a toy/useful tool comes along that just stops me in my tracks for a moment. ...especially if it could have something to do with the bare wall in a kid's room maybe? Just deal with the name, but man, how would you like to be able to do wall murals with your printer? Yeah, you'll need Flash Player 7 and Adobe's Acrobat Reader, but hey, you probably already have that. There are some good tips here, and a gallery here. This is definitely something I'll have to try when we get back... We're slowing down a bit here for a day or two. Shelley and I are taking off to the big city to attend a Family Life Marriage Conference. Grandpa and Grandma are handling kid duties and covering the baseball game. I'll check in when I get back... (well, 9 to 4 on the score) Home safely and after a very, very full weekend. Things are settling down here (finally!), and I'll be able to take a few minutes to look at a few photos and see what there is to see. ...and maybe a few more to catch up with email and what is happening with you and yours.
