I'm missing something...
They are saying that by Monday the temperatures are going to drop something like twenty degrees from yesterday. ...and yet there are no predictions of wind.
Does anyone know anything about any "scheduled maintenance" on the sun?

California tales...
Then there's the lady I watched carefully roll up her window before she closed the door and set the alarm on her Vintage VW convertible. ...with the top down. She came back a minute later to get a towel she forgot and just reached over the passenger-side window to get it. ...which I still hadn't at that point.

Catching up...
So... I post here this morning and and seconds after that, Pacific Bell's system starts to unravel... Like no DSL connectivity in central California.
Now I hear from a reliable source that all of California and Nevada are affected.
Okay, so I'll post this from home and see if AT&T tanks.
...and if those helicopters show up!

Hah! It wasn't Colonel Mustard in the Library with the Candlestick...
It was Randy in Hong Kong with a plane ticket!

Now that's a sunset!
Thanks garret...

Better....
Okay, I'm getting to the point if I keep my foot wrapped, I can sit at the keyboard for a little while.
That may or may not be a good thing...
Man, I am so glad that I give credit in my source when I steal someone's code.
...and remind me never, ever to mess with Patti!

Good morning...
Okay, that joke is only funny if you are aware my sites are hosted at http://www.pair.com/.
Okay, no more of that today; I heard that groan from here...

Remember Dave:
"It's not paranoia when the black helicopters land on your front lawn. ...it's too late!"

Okay, that's one!
Much better than a UPC code for proof of purchase...
...and actually, we get a two for one sale out of those pics!
5/23/01 10:01:29 AM
Reprieve!
Whoohoo. One staff meeting: cancelled!
Now I can actually get something done around here!
Hey, lot's to write about; hard to do 'cause I need my foot elevated. ...and I'm spending my keyboard time on emails regarding the stuff I want to write about.
Soon...

Interesting...
It's 103.8F (all temps mentioned here are from a digital feed on the north side of the house at six feet above ground level in full shade) as I get home...
...and I say interesting: since the local PUC said they had proof that some power plants had been shutting down at the stage one alert level to drive up prices on the spot market, we've had two very hot weekdays without roliing blackouts...
But that won't hold.
No, I'm not a cynic.
Much...

I'm glad I went to bed when I did...
Amber has an excellent entry point to the latest on the un-Kaycee saga.
Later; it's a shopping day...

Language barrier...
As we finished up the Great Mission Project of 2001:
"Daniel, How did you do on your typing?"
"Not, bad; the only words still spelled wrong are the Spanish ones..."
I guess I should have activated the Spanish library in the spell chequer...
5/21/2001 8:15:44 AM
Hot, hot, hot...
It was 75 degrees outside when I packed it in shortly after midnight...

Yes, the linking gifs are gone...
...because the site they linked to is gone.
That, and no other reason...

It's been an interesting morning...
Her name was not Kaycee and she was not my daughter, but I loved her as if she had been. And I grieve her loss.

Cruise lines... (x2)
The the obscure, elliptical <g> references to Shelley's title yesterday are:
- Carnival Cruise Lines (for all you Kathie Lee fans)...
- ...and Tom Cruise for Mission Impossible 2.
Yes, my mind really does work that way. Which should explain a lot...
...or not.
...and referencing Shelley's comment about my injury: yeah, it's not good to sit here typing. I suspect tomorrow will be a lot of reading and maybe a movie...
Hey, I haven't taken the wrapper off Buckaroo Banzai yet!
5/19/2001 9:37:46 PM
Kickin' back...
Daniel and Shelley are over at my sister's working on "The House that Father Serra never Built"...
Bradley and I are working on outside projects: barbecue, swimming, yard work, swimming, laying a pathway, swimming...
You know: Important Stuff!
We'll catch you much later...

Groovin'...
Coupla' things as we transition from morning to afternoon out here...
The "Island in the sky" reference yesterday left at least one person wondering... Apologies: Both here in the central valley and over on the coast where Amber lives (and I'm sure many other places), the ground fog or ocean fog often comes in and fills the valleys; when we travel to the hills and get above the fog, we see other hills and mountains as islands floating in a sea of gray or white...
...and yes, the background color is a little lighter this week. ...and it will be a little lighter next week. The sunshine, however, will stay.
