Onesome: Sticks and stones- Are you an outdoorsy sort? Would you prefer to spend all your spare time hiking, biking, swimming, etc? What's your favorite outdoor activity? Yep, give me the great outdoors any day, even in the 104 heat. Well, given a WiFi card in the Zaurus <g>... Blading, walking, working in the yard... Yeah, I don't like the "caves, only above ground" (bonus points if you can ID that movie quote!)
Twosome: May break my bones,- Have you ever broken a bone? Or needed stitches? Or been hurt badly enough you should have gone to the hospital but didn't? Hmmm... I broke a collar bone when I was around eleven. ...about three hours after I got my first bike. Yep, right into the path of a car...
Threesome: But words will never harm me- The pen is mightier than the sword and words do truly have the power to hurt. But sometimes we slip and just can't help but vent our anger toward that slow moving driver or the jerk who cut in front of us and took the last of what we needed. What's your favorite insult to hurl? Do you try to censor yourself when the kiddos are around? I try to censor myself around everyone (but yeah, especially the kids). My favorite? Nah, not here...
How about you? Let us know, over on The Back Porch...

Pros and cons...
On the minus side, it's really a bear to head out blading into the winds we've been having lately. ...especially if it's been a long day at work. Somehow weekend mornings are better...
...and coordinating with the homework/soccer practice/dinner schedule is a bit of a stretch some evenings.
...but the plus side kicks in when I get a big ol' 'thumbs up' from the kid in the tricked out Camry as we pass each other on the main road on my way back.
...or when I get to know the families around the area well enough to be able spot a dog on the wrong block (with a just adorable four-year old trying to help him home) and show up at the owner's corner just as they're trying to figure out which way to start searching for him.
Yeah, that worked...

One long Googlish time...
...but well spent: last Thursday's "unknown" turns out to be the Santo Niño de Atocha:
The "Santo Niņo de Atocha" is dressed like a boy pilgrim wearing a hat and cloak ornate with the St. James shell, holding a basket with food or roses in one hand and a pilgrim's staff (to which a water gourd is fastened) in the other. The Child is said to roam the hills and valleys bringing aid and comfort to the needy, and thereby wearing out his shoes.
Borderlands, an El Paso Community College project, has a very nice overview of some associated legends. ...and for Lolo, here are three art sites depicting the figure.
